Will Anderson addresses Aidan Hutchinson getting Heisman nod over him
Will Anderson is widely considered the best defensive player in college football. However, a different defender was chosen to go to New York — Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson is a Heisman finalist, while Anderson wonders what could’ve been.
Still, Anderson is taking his Heisman snub in-stride. Instead of harboring ill-will towards Hutchinson, the Alabama linebacker praised the Michigan star earlier this week.
“He’s a helluva player,” stated Anderson, speaking of Hutchinson. “He’s very physical. Can rush the passer. All credit to him. Congratulations to him, as well.”
At the least, Will Anderson should be joining Hutchinson and teammate Bryce Young in New York as a Heisman finalist. However, Anderson remains focused on the goal at hand — standing tall when the College Football Playoff ends.
Anderson: ‘I have nothing to prove to anybody.’
Continuing, Will Anderson was asked if his snub gives him any extra motivation moving forward. Evidently, the Alabama star believes he’s already proven his worth — he’ll keep putting in the stellar work, as usual.
“I have nothing to prove to anybody,” stated Anderson. “It’s all what I do. Nobodies expectations are higher for me .. it’s all about what I do. The expectations I have for myself. So I’m just going to keep doing what I’ve been doing this whole season.”

Anderson won’t say it, but his teammates will. Wide receiver Jameson Williams praised the defender — stating his belief that Anderson deserved to join Hutchinson and company in New York.
“I think he was more than deserving of a spot in New York,” stated Williams. “Will has had one of the best seasons I’ve ever seen a defensive player have. He’s been a great addition to the team — he’s done very well on the defensive side of the ball. Helped the offense get the ball back a bunch of times. He’s just played his role. Been a very good player, very good person to the team this whole season. My pitch would’ve been for Will to be in the Heisman race.”
Will Anderson, Aidan Hutchinson and Jameson Williams are all stars in their own rights. It’s likely all three will be future first round selections in the respective years they enter the NFL Draft. Hutchinson may get his shine at the Heisman Ceremony, but Anderson and Williams each have their minds squarely on the College Football Playoff.
Anything else would be giving in to the yummy rat poison. You know Alabama players would never let that happen.
