Alabama suffered a disappointing loss on Saturday night at the hands of LSU, but it was clear after the game that the team was sticking together. Alabama’s two biggest stars – Bryce Young and Will Anderson – both took the podium together after the loss and they exchanged heartfelt messages to each other at the end.

Anderson wanted to make it clear that he has Young’s back, and that Alabama’s loss doesn’t change that. He went on to say that it’s hard being Bryce Young, but that he wouldn’t want anybody else battling alongside him.

“Bryce, I have to give my hat off to Bryce,” Anderson said about Young after Alabama’s loss. “Bryce works his ass off every day. It’s hard being Bryce Young. He’s a tremendous leader, he does things the right way, he has a lot of people looking up to him and I’m happy to have him as a teammate. So I know he said he needs to work on his individual self, but I know everyone on the defense and offense is proud of Bryce, and the coaching staff. He does a great job for us.”

Young responded to Anderson’s message after Alabama’s loss

In response to Anderson’s message, Young came back with a heartfelt message of his own directed at the star Alabama defender.

“Everyone gets to see Will on the field, but Will is the heartbeat of this team,” Young said in response to Anderson. “He’s stepped up throughout the year, multiple times this week. Again, it’s a team thing. We lean on each other in times like this. But I’m blessed to be with you, I’m blessed to have Will as a brother and to be part of this team. So we want to keep moving forward and grow individually and as teammates.”

Young completed 25 of his 51 pass attempts on Saturday night, throwing for 328 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Anderson was limited to just two tackles, though he did have one sack and one tackle for loss.

The loss has potentially eliminated Alabama from the College Football Playoff race. While you can never say never, it’s going to be a tough hill to climb for the Crimson Tide. Alabama sits at No. 10 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll, and the Crimson Tide are likely to fall in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings.

Things don’t get any easier for Nick Saban‘s team, as Alabama hits the road again next week to take on No. 11 Ole Miss.
