Alabama took a 28-23 lead into the fourth quarter last week against Arkansas, making things a little too close for comfort entering the final 15 minutes of action. But the Crimson Tide pulled away to leave Fayetteville with a 49-26 victory, and Will Anderson didn’t sound surprised the Crimson Tide pulled it off.

Alabama — playing without Bryce Young — outscored Arkansas 21-3 in the fourth quarter to pull away and cruise to victory. Anderson said the fourth quarter is a point of emphasis during the offseason and in practice, and Nick Saban is all about a strong performance to close out games. That was the message Anderson and the veteran players had for the rest of the team after the third quarter.

“A lot of the older guys, we were telling the team we’ve been in situations like this before,” Anderson said. “We know how to deal with these situations. All offseason, Coach Saban does a great job putting us in these types of situations. We have a fourth-quarter program. I think one of his biggest messages is, ‘Win the fourth quarter,’ and I think that’s what we do a really good job of is trying to win the fourth quarter.”

Will Anderson shutting down the outside noise ahead of Texas A&M game: ‘I came here to play football’

Plenty of people have made a lot of this weekend’s game between Alabama and Texas A&M. It goes all the way back to the Aggie’s win over the Crimson Tide last season. Then, the war of words between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher only added more fuel to the fire. While the environment should be hostile in Tuscaloosa this weekend, Will Anderson says he’s not focused on the outside noise surrounding this game.

Anderson talked about the external hype around Saturday’s matchup with A&M during media on Monday. He said he respects the Aggies as a team but that there’s no reason for him to have them circled over any other team on their schedule.

“We try to approach each game the same. No game is bigger than another one,” said Anderson. “Texas A&M is up next on the schedule; so now we will be talking about this game. Texas A&M has a really good team, really good offensive line, good quarterback. It’s gonna be a great challenge for us.”
