Amier Ali, a 6-foot-8 small forward in the 2024 class, has committed to the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Ali, a four-star prospect, chose to play for Bobby Hurley and staff over a final group of Kentucky, Alabama, Kansas, and Arkansas.

“I decided on Arizona State mainly because of Coach Hurley and how he develops his players,” Ali said to On3. “Arizona State’s play style fits me well. I love how they get out in transition and the half-court play calling is what caught my eye the most.”

In his own words, what type of player is Arizona State getting in Amier Ali?

“I can play the 1, 2, or 3. I can get my teammates involved very well with my court vision and playmaking, but I feel like my best attribute is my shot. I also bring a high motor with defensive ability on and off the ball and will also bring rebounding.”

He has a message for Sun Devil fans.

“Arizona State will be getting a dog on the court and a competitor with a every day mindset to get better. I will also be bringing a piece to winning. I want to win as many games as possible including in the tournament.”

A Columbus, Ohio native, Ali now attends Canyon International Academy in Tucson, Ariz.

Ali Scouting Report

“Amier Ali is a shot-maker; that is to be considered his superpower. He plays with the utmost confidence. He is confident in catch-and-shoot situations, with range that extends beyond the three-point arc. He can also knock down a two and three-dribble pull-up in the mid-range. He is an average athlete with average length. So he can struggle to get past his man off the bounce in the half-court. This leads to some tough shots and shot selection questions. Also, there are some defensive questions there as well. When the shot is not falling, how is he helping the team? When the shot is falling, however, he can string off a good number of points in a row.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Ali is the No. 63 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
