Cam Skattebo explains why he vomited on sidelines in Peach Bowl vs. Texas
Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo was feeling the effects of a hard-fought College Football Playoff quarterfinal game against Texas. It was reported ahead of the fourth quarter that Skattebo was “vomiting profusely” on the sidelines.
Camera panned over to the Sun Devils RB, who clearly looked winded as he leaned over. After the game, he offered an explanation as to what was going on.
“I threw up,” Skattebo said bluntly. “I drank too much water too fast. I was feeling kind of sloshy. Felt better after.”
ASU coach Kenny Dilingham chimed in with a humorous addition to the conversation.
“Puke and rally,” he said.
Texas EDGE Colin Simmons decided to post on his Instagram during halftime, poking fun at Arizona State RB Cam Skattebo.
A frustrated Skattebo was caught on camera saying “he was done with this,” after frustrating offensive drives. Simmons was a big factor in containing the star running back in the first half.
Skattebo certainly appeared to feel better after getting all that out based on his play. Arizona State trailed 24-8 entering the fourth quarter but rallied to tie the game after a pair of score from the running back.
The first one actually came through the air on a trick play as he found Malik McClain for a 42-yard touchdown. After the Sun Devils forced an interception on the next drive, Skattebo later punched in a two-yard touchdown and ASU converted the two-point conversion to tie the game.

That would send the game into overtime after Texas missed two potential go-ahead field goals. Unfortunately, Arizona State couldn’t hang out and would go on to lose by a score of 39-31 in double OT.
Skattebo still put together a valiant effort to finish with game with 142 yards rushing and three total touchdown. He ends the year with 1,568 yards and 19 touchdowns as he now looks to set his sights on the NFL.
