Cam Skattebo reveals what he wants remembered about 2024 Arizona State team
If Cam Skattebo is right, the 2024 Arizona State football team will be remembered for a long time in program history.
After being picked to finish last in the Big 12 during the preseason, the Sun Devils went onto win the conference and earn a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff. Although they came up short, they pushed Texas to the brink.
Skattebo and crew definitely earned a ton of respect this year.
“Undeniable,” Skattebo said postgame. “We fought through everything all season. I mean, we let them hang the whole year. We gave everything we had, and you saw it in that game. We never stopped.
“I bet you nobody in this room thought we were going to even be close when we went down 17-3 in that first quarter. So we believed in ourselves. We believed in what we had going and undeniable is what this team is about because like you said, heroic, too, heroic. Everybody on this team believes in each other and that’s what kept us close.”
Skattebo won’t forget this team either. For now, he’ll process the end of the season before preparing for the NFL Draft but there’s no doubt he’ll be a part of Arizona State lore.

“Yeah. I mean, Coach Dillingham has got the longest future in coach history, I promise,” Skattebo said. “And then this kid next to me, he’s going to play on Sundays. I’m going to play on Sundays. So us three right here, we got a long life ahead of us. This is just the beginning for us. No matter what, these guys will be in my life forever. So it’s awesome that I was able to play football for and with them.
“And I’m just happy to be in the position I am, and for him to put me in a role to be successful, and then Sam executing to help me be successful. Just hats off to those guys, and I love those guys forever.”
Skattebo finished the game with 30 carries for 143 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He also threw a 42-yard touchdown to help spark the comeback, in addition to his eight catches for 88 yards.
Arizona State finished the season 11-3 as Big 12 champions and will forever be remembered as the first Sun Devils team to make the College Football Playoff.
