Cam Skattebo strikes Heisman pose after Arizona State touchdown in Big 12 Championship
Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo wanted to make sure people knew how good he was, especially when it comes to a potential Heisman Trophy.
While all the discussion at this point is about Travis Hunter and Ashton Jeanty, Skattebo made his case in the first half Saturday. Putting Arizona State up 17-10 over Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship, Skattebo struck the Heisman post in the end zone after scoring a touchdown.
You can see it below.
Convinced? At that point of the game, midway through the second quarter, Skattebo had seven carries for 85 yards and a touchdown.
Coming into the game, Skattebo had 247 carries for 1,398 yards, 17 touchdowns, 5.7 yards per carry, 35 catches, 468 yards and two touchdown receptions.
It might not be Jeanty stats, but Skattebo wants that trip to New York. For reference, Jeanty now has 344 carries for 2,497 yards, 29 touchdowns, 7.3 yards per carry, 20 catches, 116 yards and one touchdown reception.

Over the course of his career, Skattebo has 4,073 yards, 39 touchdowns, 6.1 yards per carry, 102 catches, 1,249 yards and seven touchdown receptions.
As a member of the Class of 2020, Skattebo was not ranked, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He played his HS Football out at Rio Linda (Calif.) High.
“Man, he’s just toughness, man,” ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham said. “Dude is tough as nails. The dude plays the game with so much passion, plays so hard. His care level is so high, so competitive, the work that he put in this off season, he should 100% be getting some Heisman love. I don’t think there’s any doubt about that.
“I mean, I don’t know the stats right now, but I would think in yards per scrimmage, he has to be top three in the country. Skill players in power five football, power four football, he has to be top three and that’s testament to him, his work ethic this team … This dude’s putting so much work this offseason, you know, he deserves some some recognition.”
