Kenny Dillingham fights for quality of Big 12 football preparing Arizona State
Kenny Dillingham has brought the Arizona State Sun Devils to the College Football Playoff during their first season as a member of the Big 12 Conference.
It’s no small accomplishment, even if some have tried to diminish their resume throughout the past coupe of days. After clinching their spot, the Arizona State leader fought for the conference, explaining how the Sun Devils’ opponents throughout 2024 readied his team for a run at a national title in 2024.
“This is a really, really deep league,” Dillingham stated, via his postgame press conference. “Every single week, anybody can beat anybody. That’s the part about this league that makes it difficult to get through it unscathed, You go to real college environments. All of the environments you play on the road are real environments. Like, our Texas Tech loss on the road was a real environment. First away Big 12 game. Then, we go on the road at Cincinnati’s homecoming without our starting quarterback, which is a real environment. Then you go to Kansas State, when they’re — after they have a bye, that’s a real environment.
“So, I just think the difficulty is not just the teams, but it’s the environments you go into as well, which is why the Big 12 can consistently — you know, people lose one or two games in the league, because it’s just so competitive.”

In the end, Arizona State finished 11-2 on the season. The Sun Devils put an exclamation point on their conference-clinching victory over the weekend, defeating Iowa State by 24 points. It could’ve been even worse, but Dillingham and company called off the dogs in the second half.
Now, they’ll await their opponent, as Arizona State went from the outside looking in to receiving a bye for the first round of the College Football Playoff. What Kenny Dillingham has done for the Sun Devils can’t be understated, and the future is more than bright for the program, as they look to continue their march over the next few weeks.
