Purdue transfer, former Georgia CB Nyland Green commits to Arizona State
Former Purdue cornerback Nyland Green has committed to Arizona State. Green only played one season at Purdue after spending three seasons at Georgia to begin his collegiate career.
Green had a career year with the Boilermakers, tallying 23 tackles, five pass breakups, two sacks and a forced fumble. In his three seasons at Georgia, Green saw action in 24 games but served in a limited capacity, totaling 13 tackles and two passes defended.
Nyland Green played high school football at Newton (GA), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 50 overall player and No. 5 player from the Peach State in the 2021 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Green is the 11th player Arizona State has added via the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason. He is joined by standouts such as Washington State cornerback Adrian Wilson and Army running back Kanye Udoh.
Of course, Arizona State has also suffered its fair share of losses, losing 16 players to the transfer portal thus far. The Sun Devils are currently ranked No. 38 in On3’s 2025 Team Transfer Portal Rankings.
Despite the few setbacks, Arizona State has no shortage of momentum heading into the offseason. In only Kenny Dillingham’s second seasons at the helm of the program, the Sun Devils finished with an 11-3 record and made their first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff.

ASU’s season ultimately came to a close in its 39-31 double-overtime loss to Texas in the Peach Bowl. Nonetheless, Dillingham can’t wait to see what the future holds for his program.
“I hate to lose more than anybody, but now that it’s over, when you can reflect and where these guys have come is an incredible testament to the team,” Dillingham said. “I’m fired up that we can continue to build this thing, and like I said, I’m a Sun Devil, and that’s awesome for me.”
The transfer portal officially opened on Dec. 7 and closed on Dec. 28, though players on teams still playing in the postseason will get an additional five-day window to enter the portal after their seasons end.
