2024 CB Isaiah Buxton decommits from Arizona
Chula Vista (Calif.) Mater Dei Catholic three-star cornerback Isaiah Buxton has decommitted from Arizona, he announced on Friday.
Buxton was pledged to the Wildcats since April 26.
“I want to thank arizona for the opportunity to attend the university, but after careful consideration, talking to my family and mentor it is in the best interest for me to decommit from Arizona,” Buxton wrote. “This is the best choice for my future, education and football wise. Thank you for the support, respect my decision.”
He is the No. 646 overall prospect and No. 65 CB in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 48 player in California.
Buxton does not currently have an On3 NIL Valuation. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
Wildcats’ 2024 class outside of Top-50 in recruiting rankings
The loss of Buxton brings Arizona’s class to 21 commitments. The pledge list features just two blue-chip prospects and ranks No. 53 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking.

The Wildcats lost their centerpiece commitment in the 2024 cycle back in October, as Tucson Salpointe Catholic top-40 prospect Elijah Rushing backed off his pledge and committed to Oregon soon after.
Long Beach (Calif.) Jordan running back Jordan Washington and Chandler (Ariz.) Basha quarterback Demond Williams Jr are the two four-stars pledged to Jedd Fisch and Co. as of Nov. 10. Williams is the No. 18 QB in the cycle.
“I would say the NFL connections that coach Fisch has and them believing in my abilities since day one,” Williams told On3 about why he picked Arizona. “I feel like it is a great opportunity to prepare me for the next level. As well as developmentally getting me to get to my maximum potential.”
