Two Arkansas players that have been out for an extended period of time are expected to miss the SEC Tournament. Adou Theiro and Boogie Fland both remain on the mend.

Coach John Calipari confirmed that neither is expected to play this week in Nashville. The hope is that with a deep NCAA Tournament run one or both might be able to return.

“Depends on how far we advance,” Calipari said. “Not in this tournament. But we advance a couple weeks, maybe.”

Adou Thiero has not played since February 22nd due to a hyperextension in his left knee. The program announced at that time that it would continue evaluating with no timetable for his return but did say that he would not need surgery. He has since missed the last four games of the regular season for Arkansas, as well as the opener in the SEC Tournament.

He has been the best player this season for the Razorbacks. He has had a career-best season across the board with averages of 15.6 points (54.8% FG), 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.7 steals.

Arkansas has not found the going easy with Adou Theiro sidelined, but it has made do. The team won four of the last five regular-season games and survived a scary one in the SEC Tournament on Wednesday. Arkansas got out to a big lead, then watched as a 10-minute stretch without a field goal unfolded in the second half.

Still, it came away with a 72-68 win over South Carolina. That will move the team to the next round of the SEC Tournament.

And while most eyes are on Adou Thiero, the status of Boogie Fland also bears mentioning. Fland has not played in almost two months with a season-ending hand injury.

Fland, the No. 1 PG and a four-star recruit from On3’s 2024 Industry Rankings, appeared in 18 games this season for Arkansas. He averaged 15.1 points (39.1% FG, 36.5% 3PT), 5.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game in those outings.

He’s a valuable addition in the backcourt. One the Hogs would love to get back, if they can give him enough time.
