While Eric Musselman is already hard at work to revamp his roster for the 2022-23 hoops season, the Arkansas head coach must now add finding a new assistant to his task list. Clay Moser, who joined Musselman when he first arrived in Fayetteville in 2019, announced on Wednesday that his time with the program has come to an end.

Musselman and the Razorbacks are coming off of their second-straight Elite Eight appearance, where they fell against No. 2 seed Duke. With Moser at his side, he has led Arkansas to at least 20 wins in every season.

“Thank you so much for the amazing, exhilarating, lifetime memories over the past 3 years,” Moser shared. “My mother always used to say ‘when you are invited into someone else’s home, leave it better than you found it’. She’d be proud. Woo Pig Sooie.”

Moser came to Arkansas after spending seven-and-a-half years with the Los Angeles Lakers. He worked with Eric Musselman several times before joining him at Arkansas, including coaching with him as associate head coach with the Reno Bighorns.

Eric Musselman is no stranger to staff turnover and has replaced one or more assistants every year.

Arkansas facing departure of key contributors

On Tuesday, Arkansas senior guard Au’Diese Toney announced his intention to declare for the 2022 NBA Draft. He is the third Razorbacks starter to announce his departure from the program. Star guard JD Notae and forward Jaylin Williams announced their decisions this week as well.

Those departures, on top of the two transfer portal entrants, means Eric Musselman is in for another one of his classic offseason rebuilds. He already has three McDonald’s All-American players in his 2022 recruiting class and he added Missouri transfer Trevon Brazile last week.

This is his first time landing a top 5 recruiting class since taking over the team. Despite a rebuild, the future only appears to be getting brighter. Three-stars Joseph Pinion and Barry Dunning round out this year’s six-man class.
