Arkansas baseball makes hilarious social media reference for monster Peyton Holt home run
Arkansas superstar Peyton Holt has been having one heck of a weekend for the Hogs. Not only did he have one of the best catches of the year on Saturday night, but he also absolutely launched a monster home run on Sunday vs. Mississippi State in the sixth inning. The Hogs social media team decided to get in on the fun.
“Call an ambulance….BUT NOT FOR US!” they joked.
Arkansas trailed on Sunday, 6-4 in the sixth inning, before Hudson White blasted a two-run shot to tie the game. Later in that inning, Holt stepped up with two outs and obliterated the baseball in the video above, giving the Hogs their third two-run homer of the day. His go-ahead home run, his fourth homer on the year, gave the Razorbacks an 8-6 lead. And they wouldn’t relinquish the lead the rest of the way, bringing home the 9-6 win.
Simply put, Holt has looked like one of the best fielders in the country this year. Not only has he made spectacular diving catches, but he’s also made some very smart, high IQ catches where he’s nailed runners at home plate. On offense this year, he’s averaging .325, while hitting four home runs, and drilling in 18 RBIs.
Arkansas currently sits at 42-10 overall and 19-8 in the SEC. The Razorbacks ended up winning two of the three games of their series with Mississippi State.

The Hogs should be a force to deal with in the upcoming 2024 NCAA Tournament and it’ll be fascinating to see how far they advance. With outfielders making spectacular grabs like Holt, they’ll always be fun to watch. And that’s not even mentioning others like Kendall Diggs, who won second team All-SEC honors in 2023, after he blasted 12 home runs and a team-high 63 RBIs last year.
Arkansas has an impressive pitching staff, led by their ace, Hagen Smith. He’s posted a 9-0 overall record this year in 13 games with a 1.65 ERA. Smith has 136 strikeouts this year, leading the team in that category by a substantial margin. He’s currently listed as a Top 10 prospect in the 2024 MLB Draft, according to MLB Pipeline. And after looking at those stats, it’s easy to see why. The gifted pitcher recently had his 10th double-digit strikeout game of the year.
