LOOK: Arkansas basketball reveals jerseys featuring classic logo in honor of 100th season
When Arkansas basketball tips off against Kentucky on Tuesday night, it will do so in style with some new jerseys. Razorbacks coach Eric Musselman revealed in a tweet Monday that the team will wear uniforms featuring a classic logo for the road match with the Wildcats.
The jerseys, which are meant to honor Arkansas’ 100th season, are red with white stripes on the shorts. The logo on the front is a throwback to one the Razorbacks used from 1973-2010, according to Sportslogos.net.
Arkansas (16-7, 5-5 SEC) enters the contest against Kentucky having won four of its past five games. That includes four straight conference wins after a disappointing 1-5 start to SEC play.
They’ll face a tall task against the Wildcats (16-7, 7-3), who are led by big man Oscar Tshiebwe. Last season’s consensus National Player of the Year, he is averaging 15.9 points and 13.6 rebounds.
Arkansas is just 1-5 in road games this season, but perhaps the special jerseys can provide some luck to the Razorbacks on Tuesday. It’s sure to be a rowdy environment at Rupp Arena, where Kentucky is 12-2.
Tip off between the Razorbacks and Wildcats is set for 8 p.m. in Lexington.
Eric Musselman refers to must-win Arkansas games as ‘Super Bowls
One of several SEC teams on the bubble when it comes to the NCAA Tournament, Arkansas has not been shy about branding certain games on the schedule. There have been some must-win Arkansas games for coach Eric Musselman.
In fact, they’re bigger than that, even, in the team’s lexicon.
Arkansas pulled out a massive win for the resume in the middle of the week by taking down a very good Texas A&M squad 81-70.

The path to the championship game is clear
“We had to. That’s why we’ve been calling them Super Bowls,” Musselman said. “We put some pressure on our team the last 48 hours about the importance of this particular game and knowing that they’re coming in here 7-1 and knowing that when they walked in tonight, we had signs all over of different messages and the importance and the meaning of this particular game, because we know we have really difficult road games coming up.”
Arkansas was led in the contest by a pair of 19-point performances from Ricky Council IV and Davonte Davis.
Meanwhile, the Hogs also got a school-record-tying seven blocks from Makhel Mitchell, along with his 13 rebounds. Everyone pitched in for what Musselman had deemed a must-win Arkansas game.
With a series of tricky road games coming up — at Kentucky, at Texas A&M, at No. 4 Alabama and at No. 2 Tennessee among them — there wasn’t much room for leeway.
