Eric Musselman says Mike White has done as well as any coach in the SEC this season
With just four games remaining in the SEC regular season schedule, Arkansas ad Georgia will square off on Tuesday in Fayetteville. The Bulldogs are just one game behind the Razorbacks in the conference standings and showed major improvement behind head coach Mike White in his first season at the helm. Arkansas head coach spoke Eric Musselman spoke on White and his personnel ahead of their matchup.
“I think Mike’s done a great job, phenomenal job, their players look like they’re having fun,” Musselman said. (Justin) Hill‘s given them a lift at the guard position, they went out and got six transfers, those guys have all, they’ve contributed. (Matthew-Alexander) Moncrieffe‘s an athletic player that gets off the floor extremely quick, and I mentioned (Braelen) Bridges with his back to the basket with using his left hand, once in a while his right hand. On that right block he’s really good going middle.”
Georgia’s role players have come up big for them this season, with Bridges leading the team in scoring in two of their last four games. But the engine that makes the Bulldogs go is the backcourt duo of Terry Roberts and Kario Oquendo, the only two players on the roster averaging double figures in points per game.
“And then Roberts is a guy that can really really score the basketball and Oquendo probably the biggest recruit that coach White had was getting Oquendo back after he was in the portal,” Musselman said. “So Bridges and Oquendo, two guys that obviously played with coach Crean then you add in the fact that they did a good job in the portal of getting guys to play extremely hard and they’ve done a great job.”

Oquendo and Bridges were apart of Georgia’s team last season when they ended the season with a 6-26 record that led to the firing of head coach Tom Crean and the hiring of white. Both players are averages less points per game this year, but have notched more than double their wins from a season ago under White.
“I mean if you look at the total wins they’ve won some big big SEC games and I think he’s done as good a coaching job as anybody in the league quite frankly,” Musselman said.
Georgia and Arkansas will square off Tuesday night at 9:00 p.m. ET in a matchup airing on SEC Network.
