Sam Pittman reveals Terry Wells injury entering fall camp
Arkansas‘ Sam Pittman is entering his fourth fall camp as the Razorbacks’ head coach and is doing so with a relatively healthy roster. The Razorbacks didn’t have great injury fortune during spring practice, with several players missing practices due to injury. But on Wednesday Pittman revealed that just one of his players will be missing some time heading into fall camp due to a serious injury.
“Terry Wells would be one that is gonna be out for a while, he tore his peck,” Pittman said. “Man he’s had some bad luck, but Terry would be one so we just activated somebody else.”
How Wells sustained his injury is unknown, but it’s not great news for the redshirt sophomore and Arkansas offensive line.
Wells was a four-star prospect out of Wynne high school in Arkansas where he was ranked the No. 1 player in the state and the No. 30 offensive tackle in the nation for the 2021 class according to On3’s Industry Rankings. He didn’t see any action last season and made one appearance at offensive line his redshirt freshman versus Georgia Southern. But the last thing the Razorbacks need right now is a dinged up offensive line.
Arkansas only returns two starters from last season’s offensive line, losing Jacobs Trophy (awarded to the SEC’s top offensive lineman) winner Ricky Stromberg, Luke Jones, and second-team All-SEC selection Dalton Wagner. All-conference selectee Beaux Limmer returns, moving from right guard to center, and Florida transfer Josh Braun joined the position group this offseason. But there’s plenty of competition on the Razorback offensive line this season, which Wells unfortunately won’t be able to be a part of.

Wells seems to be the only Razorback missing significant time during fall camp, as some players will work their way back into full strength on the practice field like running back Dominique Johnson, who’s coming off of a torn ACL injury.
“But that would be one, now there will be some like Domo, we’re not just gonna run him and let him do everything. He’ll be at every position drill, every team, he just won’t take as many reps as he might later, early,” Pittman explained.
When Razorbacks are injured and miss practice, they can be seen off to the side working out out with Associate Director of Sports Medicine Dave Polansk. But Pittman assured media that heading into camp Dave will thankfully have no company.
“But other than that we should go out there and Dave should be over there by himself not doing anything, at least for a while,” Pittman concluded.
