Arkansas linebacker Grant Morgan reveals decision on college future
Arkansas senior linebacker and multi-year captain Grant Morgan said goodbye to Razorback nation on Sunday night. Morgan, a native of the Natural State, posted 101 tackles this season for the 9-4 Razorbacks and won the Burlsworth Trophy.
“2016 is when I started my journey to become more of a man, a follower of Christ, a football player, and now, a husband,” Morgan started in his farewell post. “Arkansas has never disappointed in what it has to offer for all of these to become true. I’ve met some of my best friends here, and will cherish that forever.
“Thank you to all of the different coaches, especially Coach Pittman, for believing in us players and giving us your all, every day. I wouldn’t have wanted to finish with anyone else.”
Grant Morgan began his career at the University of Arkansas as a walk-on under Bret Bielema. He earned his scholarship as a contributor in the depth chart at linebacker under Chad Morris. Morgan thrived in 2020 and 2021 under Sam Pittman and Barry Odom, posted 100-plus tackles in both seasons.
Over a total of five seasons with Arkansas, Morgan posted 313 tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He added two interceptions as well, including a pick-six in 2020.
Morgan improves NFL Draft stock with 2021 season
Grant Morgan opted to return to Arkansas for the 2021 season as a super senior, thanks to COVID-19 eligibility relief. Morgan, the younger brother of former Miami Dolphins receiver Drew Morgan, received his draft grade and decided to return to improve his stock.

“I want to play in the NFL as long as I can,” Morgan said prior to his award-winning season. “I want to be the best at what I do, and this is the best opportunity for me to do it. Last year, I had 5-7 round draft grade. I decided I wanted to make more money, and if I were to go back why not do it with this staff. With Pittman and the way he does things here, it’s just perfect for that.”
Razorbacks declare for 2022 NFL Draft
The Arkansas Razorbacks have a lot of contributors to replace for the 2022 season. On top of a handful of transfers, the Hogs have had several upperclassmen declare for the NFL Draft.
Star wide receiver Treylon Burks, defensive tackle John Ridgeway, cornerback Montaric Brown, and long-snapper Jordan Silver will all shoot their shot with the NFL scouts. NFL scouts project Burks as a first-round draft pick.
Luckily for Sam Pittman, the Hogs are returning linebacker Bumper Pool. Although he is eligible for the draft, Pool announced his decision on Saturday.
