WATCH: Arkansas rushing attack overwhelming Longhorns
Arkansas keeps on having its way against Texas. The Razorbacks pieced together a six-play, 81-yard drive midway through the third quarter to go up 23-7 on the visiting Lonhorns.
Running back Trelon Smith capped off the drive by taking flight, jumping over the Arkansas offensive line into the end zone. The score marked Smith’s first score of the night; he has 12 carries for 75 yards on the night.
The Razorbacks struck again on the ground. After a Texas fumble gave Arkansas strong field position, Raheim Sanders only needed one play to take it to the house. The running back took off for a 26-yard score to put the Razorbacks up 33-7.
No. 15 Texas picked up a Week One win against Louisiana-Lafayette to open the Steve Sarkisian era. But the Longhorns are in trouble in the second half on the road at Arkansas.
Arkansas and Texas have a rivalry which dates back to 1894. The two schools have met 78 times since that date with Texas leading the all-time tally 56-22. Arkansas won the most recent meeting in 2014 and last hosted Texas in 2004.

When Arkansas left the Southwest Conference for the Southeastern Conference in 1994, the rivalry stuttered becoming an occasional matchup on the non-conference schedule. Now, 27 years after the Arkansas move, Texas is set to join the SEC. The Longhorns are set to join the conference in 2025, renewing the old rivalry in a new way.
