Arkansas safety Myles Slusher was taken to the locker room following a hard hit in the second quarter against Cincinnati on Saturday. After colliding with Bearcats tight end Lenny Taylor, Slusher remained down for several moments before being helped off the field by Razorbacks trainers.

The injury is said to be to Slusher’s right shoulder, according to Thomas Murphy of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

As a starting safety, Myles Slusher is a key member of the Arkansas defense. He totaled 50 tackles this past season along with two interceptions and four pass breakups. Prior to that as a freshman in 2020, he had 15 tackles and a pair of fumble recoveries.

The Razorbacks are holding on to a 14-0 lead at halftime after scoring with 17 seconds remaining in the second quarter. They will hope to hear good news on the status of Slusher ahead of the second half.

KJ Jefferson scores first for Arkansas

Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson got the scoring started with his legs Saturday against Cincinnati, as he broke free for a 15-yard touchdown run to give the Razorbacks a 7-0 lead with 6:18 in the first quarter.

Jefferson’s touchdown run came after Arkansas cornerback Dwight McGlothern came away with an interception to set the Razorbacks up at the Cincinnati 29. The drive spanned three plays, as Jefferson also completed a 20-yard pass to Matt Landers.

Saturday’s touchdown run shouldn’t come as a surprise, as KJ Jefferson was also a factor on the ground last season when led the team with 664 yards rushing and six touchdowns. It looks like Jefferson is ready to pick up where he left off, already making an impact on the ground early in 2022.

He ended his day 18-of-26 passing for 223 yards passing and three touchdowns in addition to 62 yards and the score on the ground.
