Bumper Pool reveals why he returned for 2022 season
Arkansas linebacker Bumper Pool decided to use his extra year of eligibility and return for a fifth season in 2022. He explained the decision at SEC media days.
For Bumper Pool, it’s incredibly important to leave Arkansas better than he found it. By returning for a fifth season, he’ll be better able to do this.
“It’s very important,” Bumper Pool said of building on success. “It’s also a very big reason why I came back. There was a lot of older guys leaving and I just felt that I wanted to come back to set a standard of how you work, what you do in the season. Because we had that success last year, I didn’t want it to be one of those things where it just happened and then it’s gone.”
“I think that, you know, you need older guys, you know, breathing life into young guys, saying, ‘This is the way you do it. This is the way you go about your business,’ to repeat that success.”

Bumper Pool originally committed to play for Bret Bielema at Arkansas. He stuck with the program through the change to Chad Morris and now Sam Pittman. Some of those years were very lean, but they’ve already shown improvement under Pittman.
He has also seen significant playing time since his freshman season. In 2020 and 2021, Bumper Pool was considered one of the best linebackers in the SEC. He’s expected to have a major impact on the Razorbacks in 2022 as well.
