Dave Van Horn had to bust Kendall Diggs’ chops after his bases-clearing single for Arkansas on Friday.

You almost never hear those words together, a bases-clearing single, and Van Horn was shocked during his press conference when he looked back at the score sheet and saw Diggs couldn’t at least stretch his hit into a double on the play.

“I thought they were super patient early,” Van Horn said, regarding his opponent’s approach at the plate. “They were taking borderline pitches early in the count. I think we did the same thing. You know, we took some pitches that were more so-called pitcher’s pitches, and just kept flipping the count. Getting it in our favor. It was really good to see our team do that, and foul off a lot of pitches. Got a couple of big hits.

“When Kendall dropped that ball into center field and I truly believed that he got a double out of it, because there was two outs, but I see he didn’t have a double on the sheet here, that’s incredible. I’m going to have to have a talk with him. I mean, how do you get to first base on a ball hit like that? You get to second because everybody else is running hard. I mean, that seems, I don’t know, but it was just really good to see our offense kind of start clicking a little bit.”

Regardless, Dave Van Horn and the Razorbacks will take Kendall Diggs’ three RBIs on the play, but the shock still remains. Expect the Arkansas star to stretch it into a double for his manager if a similar play ever arises.

Dave Van Horn shares excitement to play at home for Regionals

Moreover, after a grueling SEC regular season and conference championship tournament, it is time that teams turn their attention to the College World Series. One of the teams that earned a regional host bid is the SEC regular season co-championsArkansas Razorbacks.

Shortly following the news that Arkansas would be a host team for the 2023 College World Series regional round, skipper Dave Van Horn revealed just how excited he is to play the opening round at home.

“It’s always good to be at home, really. I mean, we’ve been on the road for 11 days straight,” said Van Horn. “And just driving back, once we got in our cars at the airport the other day, it was nice to be here and regroup a little bit. Let these guys have some freedom yesterday, today, and then have team practice the next couple of days. Then a Thursday workout that’s structured time-wise.

“It’s really good to be able to play a Baum-Walker in front of our fans, who are extremely loyal, and they show up. It ought to be an exciting weekend.”

The Razorbacks had an impressive regular season and finished the year 41-16 and 20-10 in conference play. But teens in the Fayetteville, AR, regional should be concerned with the Razorback’s home record. In 34 all games this season, Arkansas is a staggering 30-4.
