Dave Van Horn offers injury update on Peyton Holt
After Arkansas infielder Peyton Holt exited the Razorbacks’ win over Santa Clara in the ninth inning, fans were understandably worried. Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn let fans know Holt is OK after the game.
“He’s got something with the lower back or something going going on so we got him out,” Van Horn said during the postgame press conference.
Did you hear that? It was the sound of Arkansas fans around the nation simultaneously exhaling a sigh of relief. Holt is a star for the Razorbacks, batting .394 this season. Home plate isn’t the only place the 5-foot-10 junior is dangerous.
Holt boasts a .970 fielding percentage this season. He put on a show for fans in the opening game of the Fayetteville Regional with his fielding finesse. Evidently, Holt was having so much fun he didn’t want to come out of the contest.

“He wanted to stay in but I just took him out,” Van Horn said.
Holt’s talents weren’t necessary in the ninth inning. The Razorbacks routed Santa Clara 13-6. The win is a bounce back for Arkansas, who fell to Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament. With Holt’s help, Arkansas outfielder Tavian Josenberger is hopeful the Razorbacks can start a win streak.
“It’s a really good feeling,” Josenberger said following the win. “Right now is the perfect time to get hot. We just need to keep going.”
Arkansas will play the winner of TCU and Arizona at 8 p.m. on Saturday to advance to the Super Regionals.
