Dave Van Horn is hoping for the bats to come alive for the Arkansas Razorbacks over their next couple of games.

While Arkansas has had their fair-share of good times at the plate, they’ve been inconsistent recently. Van Horn believes there’s much to be desired at the moment, but he believes it’ll all work out for the Razorbacks right now.

“You know, I’d say middle of the road right now,” Van Horn answered, asked to give an evaluation on where his team is offensively at the moment. “It’s been better. We’ve put together some good innings, but we’ve got to get some guys going. You know, guys that have been around. They’ve had — when you think about a couple weeks back, Mississippi State, the weekend that [Parker] Rowland had. Kendall Diggs and those guys. Then they kind of tapered off last weekend. We’ve got to get them all going.

“I mean, Peyton Holt was huge for our offense this weekend. He looked more like a guy that should be in the three hole, and that might happen.”

Perhaps Dave Van Horn and the Razorbacks will have to rely on the aforementioned Rowland, Diggs and Holt moving forward, but it’ll be tough to achieve their ultimate goal of winning the College World Series that way. Arkansas needs contributors throughout their order, but it remains to be seen if they’ll get them in the next couple of weeks.

Dave Van Horn reveals John Bolton’s injury status entering SEC Tournament

Continuing, Dave Van Horn provided some insight into how Arkansas shortstop John Bolton is recovering following suffering an ankle injury that kept him out against Vanderbilt on Saturday.

With the SEC Tournament looming large, Van Horn delivered the news of when he believes Razorbacks faithful will see Bolton back on the field.

“As of now, I would say he’s definitely not playing on Wednesday, Thursday. Maybe not at all. He should be ready in awhile though, in a week or so. We’ll see,” explained Van Horn. “He kept it iced, off and on today during the game. Kept it elevated in the dugout, sitting down up on the bench. You know, doing everything they can to accelerate that, get that right.”

As for who will play in Bolton’s stead, Harold Coll has done an admirable job for Arkansas, and Van Horn has no qualms about keeping him in the lineup.

“He played really good today. I thought he had some good at-bats. That was a big sac fly he had for us today,” explained Van Horn. “He works hard everyday. Takes his ground balls, does his work. I’m good with him. It’s fine.”

Nevertheless, John Bolton is a big piece for Dave Van Horn’s squad, and he’s going to want him in the lineup moving forward. Time will tell how well his ankle heals over the next couple of days, and if he’s able to return to action.
