Eric Musselman provides initial impressions of Ole Miss
Arkansas is looking to snap its losing streak this Saturday at home against Ole Miss. Ahead of the SEC matchup, head coach Eric Musselman met with media to preview the Rebels and the threat the pose the Razorbacks.
“I give Kermit’s team a lot of credit. They won a game on the road at South Carolina – they competed. They’ll change up defenses, play some 1-3-1, they’ll play some man,” Musselman said Thursday. “Kermit’s teams always play extremely hard, so they’ll compete and I’m sure they’re feeling good coming off a win, especially a road win.”
Ole Miss began the season 6-0, but haven’t found any sort of rhythm since. They would go on to lose nine of its next 11 games before eking out of South Carolina with a 70-58 win.
The Razorbacks on the other hand have seen their season go from SEC Championship hopeful to dropping its last four conference games. They dropped the first two to ranked Auburn and Alabama squads, but subsequent losses to Vanderbilt and Missouri have firmly stowed the Hogs away in the bottom of the SEC standings.

In fact, the loser of Arkansas and Ole Miss will relegated to last place in the conference standings heading into next week. Once ranked in the top-10 of the AP Top 25 poll, the swift decline toward SEC irrelevancy almost seems like a fluke. Arkansas began the season 12-3 and even won its first SEC game of the season over a then-No. 20 ranked Missouri team.
Still, there’s time for Arkansas to get back on track and remain firmly in the NCAA Tournament picture. An SEC regular season title is probably out of the picture, but there’s still time for Musselman to turn things around for a deep run in the conference tournament, and in turn a deep run during March Madness.
