Eric Musselman provides update on Trevon Brazile injury
Arkansas coach Eric Musselman had some unfortunate news to deliver on the injury to forward Trevon Brazile. Musselman revealed that Brazile did not practice with the team Wednesday after rolling his ankle in the final minutes of Monday night’s 97-83 win against Furman.
The junior apparently suffered a “severe sprain” according to Musselman and will be reevaluated ahead of Thursday’s practice. The Razorbacks are set to face Oklahoma on Saturday, putting Brazile’s availability for that contest in question.
“Severe sprain. Will not participate in anything that we do today,” Musselman said. “Possibility of him going on an underwater treadmill to walk tomorrow, so not a glowing report. It wasn’t something that he just woke up the next day and felt fine. Still got some more days before we play, but unable to shoot around or anything today.”
This isn’t the first time that Brazile has faced injury concerns in his career with the Razorbacks. He transferred to Arkansas from Missouri last season but played only nine games before suffering a torn ACL that sidelined him for the rest of the year.
Brazile bounced back from that injury to play a large role for the Razorbacks so far this season. He has started all nine games thus far and ranks third on the team with 11.3 points per game and leads Arkansas with 7.7 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. He is also shooting lights out from 3-point range, where he has made 46.7% of his attempts.

The injury comes at a tough time from Trevon Brazile, as he had been playing well of late. The forward has scored double figures in four of the past five contests, including notching a double-double in three of those games. His 17 rebounds against Stanford on Nov. 22 marked a career high.
Fortunately for Brazile, this doesn’t seem like an injury that will keep him out long term. Although it is a possibility that he could miss this weekend and potentially more, he should be able to return to the floor eventually.
If Brazile is forced to miss Saturday’s game against the Sooners, we could see Makhi Mitchell enter the starting lineup. He is averaging 5.7 points and 2.9 rebounds across 13.9 minutes per game thus far.
For now, we’ll have to wait for another update to determine what Brazile’s status will be for the game. Tip-off between Oklahoma and Arkansas is set for 3 p.m. CT on Saturday at the BOK Center in Tulsa.
