Eric Musselman reveals hilarious truth about his shoulder brace
Eric Musselman might be medically cleared to stop wearing his shoulder brace, but he doesn’t plan to take it off any time soon. The Arkansas basketball coach said following a big win Saturday against No. 6 Kentucky that his team’s success with the brace on is undeniable.
“We’ve been winning a lot of games with that sling,” Musselman said in his postgame press conference. “I hate (wearing) it, but I have two bosses: Hunter (Yurachek) and (my wife) Danyelle. On two separate occasions, I’ve been told to leave it on. I don’t wanna. I hate it. I pray every night that I’m thankful we’ve won like we have, because it has not been fun coaching with it. But it’s been one of the funnest times I’ve ever had coaching a team because of the difficulty of the schedule and the way we’ve been winning, but I don’t wish a torn rotator cuff in the middle of the season on any coach in any sport.”
Musselman suffered the injury in late December when Razorbacks forward Trey Wade landed on his left shoulder during a practice. It was later determined the coach would need surgery, which caused him to miss two games in the middle of January.
Although Arkansas lost the first three games that Eric Musselman wore the shoulder brace, it quickly turned things around. The Razorbacks have now won 13 of their past 14 games, including games against top 10 opponents in Auburn and Kentucky. They can make a case for themselves as the hottest team in college basketball with the NCAA Tournament now just weeks away.

Musselman is in his third year with the Razorbacks, having led them to at least 20 victories each season. Although the NCAA Tournament was canceled during his inaugural season, Arkansas earned a three seed during his second year in 2021 and advanced to the Elite Eight before falling to eventual champion Baylor. With the way his team is playing right now, this year could be the coach’s most successful yet.
The Razorbacks are now set for a Senior Day matchup against LSU at 8 p.m. CT Wednesday. After that they close the regular season on the road against Tennessee before the SEC Tournament begins March 9.
