Ja’Quinden Jackson, a former running back for Utah, has committed to Arkansas out of the transfer portal.

Jackson shared the news in an announcement on Twitter on Friday.

Jackson started his career at Texas before spending the last three at Utah.

While with the Utes, Jackson appeared in 28 games, including 11 starts over his dozen games this past season. In total, he has rushed for 1,358 yards and 14 scores on 245 career carries.

That included his production as their lead back in 2023. He doubled his carries from the season prior with 161 touches on the ground. Those led to 797 yards and four scores, five less touchdowns than when he led the team with nine rushing scores the season prior.

Jackson played high school football at Duncanville (TX) where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 85 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. As a quarterback at that time, he came out as the No. 6 QB in the country and the No. 10 player out of Texas.

Jackson comes to Fayetteville as the 11th transfer for Arkansas in this cycle. As the lone running back of that group out of seven offensive additions, he seems like a clear choice to make up for some of the lost production that Raheim Sanders left behind.
