Arkansas desperately missed quarterback KJ Jefferson on Saturday against LSU, with Malik Hornsby and Cade Fortin struggling at home. Progress is being made by Jefferson according to head coach Sam Pittman, who provided the latest update on Wednesday.

Pittman said Jefferson has been involved in “most” plays in practice this week. He feels good about where the quarterback stands at this point of the week and is possibly on track to play at home against Ole Miss.

“Well, he’s practiced most every play this week,” Pittman said during the SEC Coaches Teleconference. “So, I feel good about him.”

When the Arkansas offense has been humming, it’s because Jefferson has been playing well. Not only is he on the verge of surpassing 2,000 yards passing but he is also the second-leading rusher on the team with 425 yards. In total, Jefferson has 23 touchdowns for the Razorbacks this year.

Two other updates came from Pittman on Wednesday, with one being an injury while the status of a suspension was mentioned as well.

Dalton Wagner was first up, with the offensive lineman back in practice. Pittman went on the say Arkansas is “as healthy as we’ve been in a long, long time” and is excited to get back onto the field for a night game.

Myles Slusher was mentioned as well, with his suspension being lifted after not playing against LSU.

“Dalton Wagner has also practiced a lot this week,” said Pittman. “I have cut the suspension off of Slusher. He has practiced this week as well. We’re probably as healthy as we’ve been in a long, long time.

“Certainly, there’s some soreness in those first two I talked about but that’s going to happen in Game No. 11 in our league. So, I feel pretty good about all of those guys.”

Arkansas will have two opportunities to get their sixth win of the season, hoping to make a bowl game for the second season in a row. After previously missing a postseason game in four consecutive years, it would be a massive accomplishment for Pittman.
