Jace Bohrofen shares excitement for fresh start in NCAA Tournament
Fresh starts are always enticing. However, they’re never more tempting than when you have three hits in your last 35 at-bats.
Arkansas outfielder Jace Bohrofen can relate. With the 2023 NCAA college baseball championship beginning on June 2, Bohrofen sat down with the media to discuss his current slump.
“Coach talks about it all the time. In the postseason, it’s a new ball game. A new season. It’s 0-0 with everyone,” Bohrofen said during a press conference on Thursday.
If the beginning of this season is any indicator of what Bohrofen is capable of, Arkansas fans should feel comfortable. Even after his recent struggles, the junior outfielder is batting .318 this season, a career-high.
After spending the last six games on the road, Bohrofen is ready to stand at home plate on his home field.
“Come back home, getting to use our facilities, getting to build your routines,” Bohrofen said. “Just getting in the groove of those things, I think it’s going to really help us in the postseason.”
Ranked at No. 5 in the nation, the Razorbacks will have the advantage of playing in their backyard. Arkansas will compete against Santa Clara and, eventually, either Arizona or TCU to win the Regional. Bohrofen has experience in the postseason.

“I’m looking really forward to the fans and the atmosphere at Baum-Walker [Stadium]. Last year was cool because we were on the road, hostile environment. We kind of felt like everyone was against us. Now, we’re going to have our fans on our side, being loud as heck,” Bohrofen said.
While Bohrofen’s physical location is important to him, he believes the mental state is what makes or breaks a baseball player. He’s ready to make it.
“It’s always healthy to get a couple days off, especially from baseball. Get your mind away from it and just relax. These days at home have been really helpful to me,” Bohrofen admitted. “I’m pretty confident in myself that I’ll have a good weekend.”
Fans won’t have to wait long to see if Bohrofen lives up to his word. The Arkansas Razorback will take on Santa Clara at 3 p.m. on Friday.
