Jace Bohrofen shares what SEC does to prepare Arkansas for NCAA Tournament
The first pitches of the NCAA Tournament will be thrown out today as the 64 teams in the field start to make their push toward Omaha. That includes the third-overall-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks as things get underway in the Fayetteville Regional.
Plenty has prepared the ‘Hogs for their run toward a national championship considering they went 41-16 this season. However, in the eyes of junior outfielder Jace Bohrofen, it was what Arkansas experienced during conference play in the SEC that truly prepared them for their shot at Charles Schwab Field.
“I mean I think this is the toughest conference in the country. So playing all those teams is really just getting us prepared for postseason games,” Bohrofen said. “None of these games in the postseason are easy. It doesn’t matter who you’re playing. All the losses we’ve taken this year have only helped us to overcome the adversity that we might face here in the postseason.”
Arkansas posted a 20-10 record in league play against SEC opponents. That earned them the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament before Texas A&M ended their run in Hoover by one game in the semifinals.
When it comes to the national outlook, there’s no questioning the SEC as the best in college baseball. Heading into the start of the NCAA Tournament today, the Southeastern Conference earned 10 bids of the 64. Then, of the 16 regional sites, you can see they earned half of those as Gainesville, Fayetteville, Baton Rouge, Nashville, Tuscaloosa, Columbia, Auburn, and Lexington will all be sites for postseason baseball.
A lot will stand in the way of Bohrofen and Arkansas’ hopes of hoisting a trophy before it’s all said and done. Even so, he has every confidence that they can do it considering the trials and tribulations that they encountered while playing in ‘the toughest conference in the country.’

Fresh starts are always enticing. However, they’re never more tempting than when you have three hits in your last 35 at-bats.

Arkansas outfielder Jace Bohrofen can relate. With the 2023 NCAA college baseball championship beginning on June 2, Bohrofen sat down with the media to discuss his current slump.
“Coach talks about it all the time. In the postseason, it’s a new ball game. A new season. It’s 0-0 with everyone,” Bohrofen said during a press conference on Thursday.
“Come back home, getting to use our facilities, getting to build your routines,” Bohrofen said. “Just getting in the groove of those things, I think it’s going to really help us in the postseason.”
Ranked at No. 5 in the nation, the Razorbacks will have the advantage of playing in their backyard. Arkansas will compete against Santa Clara and, eventually, either Arizona or TCU to win the Regional.
“I’m looking really forward to the fans and the atmosphere at Baum-Walker (Stadium). Last year was cool because we were on the road, hostile environment. We kind of felt like everyone was against us. Now, we’re going to have our fans on our side, being loud as heck,” Bohrofen said.
