On3 college football analyst J.D. PicKell broke down Arkansas’ 2022 football schedule on The Hard Count.

Arkansas is coming off a strong 2021 season, but their schedule in 2022 is going to be one of the toughest in the country. Coach Sam Pittman will have the Razorbacks ready to go, but can they win more than seven games?

Arkansas’ Schedule

J.D. PicKell broke down the Arkansas schedule, which looks like this:

  1. Cincinnati
  2. South Carolina
  3. Missouri State
  4. Texas A&M (AT&T Stadium)
  5. Alabama
  6. @Mississippi State
  7. @BYU
  8. Bye
  9. @Auburn
  10. Liberty
  11. LSU
  12. Ole Miss
  13. @Missouri

PicKell’s Thoughts

J.D. PicKell thinks that Arkansas will start their season with a win, largely because of how much turnover Cincinnati is dealing with. After that, South Carolina comes to town to open up conference play. This is a tricky game for South Carolina, early in the season. PicKell says it’s a win, followed quickly by a win over Missouri State.

“If they can just set the tone like they did a year ago. If you watch that tape, Arkansas just made (Texas) A&M die a very slow death. I think Arkansas wins that game in Arlington,” said J.D. PicKell.

Alabama is up next and will have too much firepower in a close game. That will make Arkansas 4-1 before a tough stretch of three road games in a row against Mississippi State, BYU, and Auburn. On paper, according to PicKell, the Razorbacks should be better than all three of those teams. However, in a three-game road stretch, he thinks they’ll trip up somewhere and go 2-1 during that stretch. The most likely spot for a loss during that stretch is Mississippi State.

By then, Arkansas would be bowl eligible at 6-2. Then, they’d return home for a win over Liberty before hosting LSU. It’s hard to say what LSU is going to be in 2022, between coach turnover and quarterback issues. That makes Arkansas the safer bet.

However, the next week J.D. PicKell has Arkansas losing its final home game to Ole Miss. After that, they’ll travel on the road to play and beat Missouri. That would put them at 9-3 on the year, destroying their projected win total of seven games.
