Jordan Domineck, Hudson Clark address how Arkansas is preparing for altitude, BYU atmosphere
Arkansas has more than just the challenge of taking on a tough BYU team Saturday, as it must also prepare for a change in altitude when it travels from Fayetteville to Provo, Utah. But as the Razorbacks get ready to enter mountain country, defensive end Jordan Domineck isn’t too concerned.
“As far as altitude goes, we’re basically just hydrating a little bit more,” he said in a Tuesday press conference. “Comparatively, they say it’s about 3,000 more feet above the surface than we are right now, but from what I’m hearing, it’s not going to be too much of a difference in the air pressure or anything up there. Hydrate a little bit more.
“Once we get there, you’re gonna have Friday before the game on Saturday to get accustomed to the air, try and run out a little bit if you can, get a little run in. But other than that, we’re just gonna treat it like any other game. It’s not too much we can really do about the atmosphere there. We’re just gonna have to deal with it like we have to deal with anything else.”

Saturday will be the first-ever meeting between Arkansas and BYU, and the Razorbacks are eager to kick things off in LaVell Edwards Stadium. Provo offers one of the most scenic views in all of college football, as mountains can be seen in the background behind the stands.
For Domineck, who has never been to Utah before, the opportunity to be a part of history and experience something new has him ready to hit the road this week.
“It’s really exciting to go out there and play against a team that you see on paper that’s like, one we’ve never been there to play against them,” he said. “I’ve never been to Utah. I’ve never actually seen the city. I’ve heard it’s beautiful. I’ve heard the campus is beautiful. The mountains on the outside, you’re looking over the outside of one of the stands, and you just see the mountains in the background. That’d be a dope picture to have. Just you holding up a mountain or something.

“So just being able to be on the first team that goes there for Arkansas, to be able to travel somewhere that I’ve never been and play a team that I’ve never played before, it’s an honor and a privilege. I feel like it’s going to be a great vibe, honestly.”
Defensive back Hudson Clark echoed those sentiments, saying coach Sam Pittman has also been putting emphasis on the opportunity to play in such an aesthetic setting.
“Coach Pittman, he’s been showing pictures before every team meeting,” Clark said. “Seeing the stadium, it’s pretty awesome. Having it be a whiteout and their homecoming, I think it’s gonna be a great atmosphere for us to go into and it’s just gonna be an awesome experience.”
After beginning the season 3-0, Arkansas is on a three-game losing streak, and could certainly use a win to get back on track. The Razorbacks and Cougars will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday.
