Jordan Walsh shares excitement for LSU rematch
As Arkansas prepares for a rematch with LSU, freshman forward Jordan Walsh sees a changed Razorbacks team. Arkansas opened SEC play against the Tigers with a 60-57 loss in Baton Rouge, but expect different results in Fayetteville on Tuesday.
That opening loss was the beginning of a disappointing 1-5 start to SEC play, and Arkansas is still trying to recover and climb its way back up the standings. That started with a 69-57 victory against Ole Miss on Saturday to snap a four-game losing streak, and the Razorbacks will hope to carry that momentum going forward.
Walsh revealed after the win against the Rebels what he believes is different about this Arkansas team from the first meeting with LSU.
“That was obviously the first one,” he said. “They kind of bullied us and tried to punch us that game. It was one the road, people were nervous. We weren’t ready. We weren’t locked in. But now that it’s home and now that we know what’s up, it should be a different story.”
Jordan Walsh was solid in the first meeting against LSU, finishing with 13 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and two steals. However, Arkansas shot a combined 4-of-25 (16%) from deep and did not get any points from its bench, both factors that contributed to the loss.

It’s been an up-and-down season for Walsh, the No. 22 player in the 2022 class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. He is averaging 7.2 points and 3.7 rebounds this season, and had 13 points and seven boards in Saturday’s win. Walsh is now 9-of-13 shooting over the past two games, and will hope to carry that momentum into Tuesday.
Arkansas entered the last matchup against LSU with an 11-1 record and No. 9 in the AP poll, looking like one of the best teams in the country. However, they are just 2-5 in league play after Saturday’s win, moving up to just 10th in the standings.
The Razorbacks will hope to continue to climb out of their early rut when they tip off against the Tigers at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday in Fayetteville.
