Arkansas is preparing to debut a new offense in 2023, one led by new offensive coordinator Dan Enos. Enos is a long-time friend of Sam Pittman‘s and takes charge after Kendal Briles departed for TCU.

The veteran 55-year-old coordinator has already impressed his peers on staff.

“Just a smart guy, you can tell he’s seasoned, been through it before, knows what to expect, knows what first-day mistakes are going to happen,” receivers coach Kenny Guiton said. “He knows what’s going to happen before it happens, so just one of those coaches to learn from because he is a vet.”

Enos had had stints at a number of programs, from Alabama to Miami, from Cincinnati to Michigan, from Central Michigan to Michigan State and just about everywhere in between.

Dating back to 1991, Dan Enos has been in the game plying his trade. It’s one of his greatest strengths.

In fact, Guiton praised Enos for always seeming to know what’s going to happen before it happens, a trait that you’d think would be especially valuable to an offensive play-caller.

“He knows the answers for everything before it happens, and that’s one of those things that I’m trying to learn as a guy that played quarterback, coaching wideouts now,” Guiton said. “I just want to know those answers because you’ll know once we get guys with the one play, their answer is going to be this, come back with this. And it’s like so cool to learn because it’s like he sees it already happening.”

Dan Enos has been a coordinator or an associate head coach in eight of the last nine years, so he’s been able to see the game at a high level.

The Razorbacks are hoping that means a strong year for the offense, led by veteran quarterback KJ Jefferson. The Hogs won nine games two years ago, then struggled to maintain that level in 2022 as injuries piled up, particularly in the secondary.

But if Dan Enos’ ability is any indication, expect Arkansas to be quite competitive again in the SEC. Fellow coaches have been raving about him in fall camp.

“Just an awesome guy to learn from,” Guiton said. “Knows what he wants and he wants it to the tee. It keeps us on our toes every day, always going over the little details and not skipping over anything.”
