After a convincing victory on the road against BYU, the Arkansas Razorbacks have ended their three-game losing streak and improved to 4-3. A huge factor in Saturday’s win was the return of star quarterback KJ Jefferson. When the Razorbacks needed a play to be made late in the first half, Jefferson stepped up and delivered for his team. And for many watching, that third down conversion is where Arkansas grabbed ahold of the momentum and never looked back.

After their 52-35 victory, Jefferson broke down highlight play in the team’s post-game press conference.

“I was just watching it just then, and I was looking at it like: I ain’t know more; I broke that many tackles. But, I mean, we knew it was third down. I knew it was third down, so I had to make a play,” said Jefferson. “And at that point, we were just trying to keep the momentum on our side; keep scoring while the offense was hot. Every time we went out there, after the field goal, we scored. So, just being able to keep the momentum on our side and then, on third down, I knew I had to make a play, and made a play.”

On the year, Jefferson has been better than advertised. The six-foot-three Mississippi native has completed 109 of his 161 pass attempts for 1463 yards and a 67.7 completion percentage. Couple that with an average of 9.1 yards per pass and a 14 touchdown to one interception ratio.

Jefferson had a monster performance for the Razorbacks after missing Arkansas’ 40-17 loss to Mississippi State the weekend before. Against BYU, he threw for 367 yards completing 29 of his 40 pass attempts with five touchdowns and zero interceptions. Needless to say, Arkansas is ecstatic to have their leader back on the field as they resume their SEC conference play.

Up next for the Razorbacks is a matchup against West rival the Auburn Tigers. An SEC championship bid might be out of reach following their three straight conference losses, but Jefferson and the Razorbacks still have a legitimate chance at a New Year’s six bowl bid if they continue their winning ways to end the season.
