The most intriguing non-basketball story from the NBA Finals is the Gereat Chase Center Break-In by Fake Klay Thompson. For those unaware, a YouTuber who goes by BigDawsTV normally attends Warriors games in a full Klay Thompson jersey and has earned a bit of a reputation as looking like the splash brother.

A few hours before Game 5 of the NBA Finals the other day, Big Daws and his buddy/cameraman claimed they were looking for the team store, but “accidentally” walked into the players’ entrance. Big Daws — dressed head to toe as Klay, including jersey shorts, shoes and a warm-up pullover — strolled right on in. Security ushered the two through metal detectors and one security member even yelled something like “go get ’em, Klay” — not noticing that he was not, in fact, Klay. Nor would real Klay wear his game jersey and shoes (worth thousands of dollars) while walking into the stadium.

Well, the haphazard approach from security allowed Big Daws to get on the floor and even shoot around for a few minutes before finally he was finally escorted out by a woman who actually knew what Klay Thompson looks like.

Following the break-in — really, it was a welcome-in by the Golden State staff — Big Daws reported he was now banned for life from the Chase Center. Ridiculous to punish this benevolent criminal rather than the loose security, I’d say. Hopefully Chase Banks protect their vaults a little better than this.

Patrick Beverley takes up for Fake Klay

But Big Daws has Timberwolf Patrick Beverley on his side. The veteran defensive ace tweeted his support for Big Daws. “Ayo Fake Klay when the Timberwolves play Golden State next season, we need you on the Floor at Target Center gang,” Beverley tweeted. To which Big Daws responded, “I’ll be there Pat.”

Big Daws remains banned from the stadium as of this writing. However, there’s a flurry of support on social media to repeal the ban. If Golden State knows what’s best for image purposes, don’t ban Fake Klay. Social media stars like Big Daws are personalities you want around the program, not banned from it.
