Report: North Texas transfer WR DT Sheffield set to visit Arkansas on Friday
On Friday, North Texas transfer wide receiver DT Sheffield will visit Arkansas, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Sheffield exploded for 66 catches, 822 yards and 11 touchdowns this season.
“My plan is to go win championships,” Sheffield said, per Thamel. “Obviously I balled out in this conference and I have the ability and want to showcase my talents on a bigger level.”
In a three-week span this October against FAU, Memphis and Tulane, Sheffield amassed 28 catches for 373 yards and five scores. For his efforts in the 2024 campaign, he was named an All-AAC First-Team member.
Sheffield announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 9 with a heartfelt statement.
“I would like to thank the man above, because without Him none of this would be possible,” Sheffield wrote. “I would like to thank my family and friends for all of the love and support they have showed me throughout this journey. I would like to thank the University of North Texas and the coaches for the opportunity to play the game I love and pursue my education.
“To all the Mean Green fans, thank you for all the support and love you have shown to me. To my teammates, thank you all for being there and taking me in; it’s been a fun ride with you guys. With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal with 1 year of eligibility left.”

According to his X account, Sheffield has also already picked up offers in the transfer portal from Washington, UCLA, Michigan State, Utah and Mississippi State.
Sheffield could be a massive addition for the Razorbacks, who finished the regular season with a 6-6 overall record and a 3-5 mark in conference play. Arkansas’ offense especially showed improvement after naming Bobby Petrino its offensive coordinator ahead of the 2024 season.
Now, DT Sheffield will visit Arkansas, with a chance to be another weapon in Razorbacks’ growing offensive arsenal.
