Sam Pittman addresses Marcus Miller injury, timetable for return
Arkansas defensive tackle Marcus Miller is entering his fourth season with the ‘Hogs football program and he’s expected to see more minutes during the 2022 season. However, he’s been recently slowed by a knee injury and earlier on Thursday, a team representative for the Razorbacks said the defensive tackle needed to have his knee scoped and that he’d miss the rest of fall camp. Speaking with the media following Thursday’s practice, Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman discussed the timetable for Miller’s return.
“It is disappointing because he worked so hard and he was doing well. But, you’re looking at a….I believe and I mean this. I believe that he’ll be back at no later than when school starts. So, I think he’ll still have two weeks before the Cincinnati game to have a little cleanout in his knee and that was it,” Pittman said.
“Marcus had been having a good three, four days. He’s got a good attitude. The surgery went well. So, I anticipate him being back probably by first day of school,” Pittman said.

Last year as a redshirt sophomore, Miller tallied two tackles against Arkansas Pine-Bluff (Oct. 23). He also played against Auburn on Oct. 16, but didn’t chart any stats in that game. In 2020, during his redshirt freshman season, the 6-foot-5, 298-pounder played in three games, racking up seven total tackles. His best performance that season came against the LSU Tigers (Nov. 21), when he logged 46 snaps and a career-high six tackles.
According to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2019 cycle, Miller was rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 102 defensive lineman in the country. A versatile athlete, he played basketball and football for Warren High School (Warren, Arkansas). As a senior, he racked up 52 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, four quarterback hurries, and one fumble recovery. That year, Miller guided Warren to a second-round playoff berth in the Arkansas 4A state playoffs. The defensive tackle chose the Razorbacks over offers from Missouri, Tennessee, and others.
