Sam Pittman appreciates authenticity of Lane Kiffin
Lane Kiffin is as interesting a character as you’ll find in college football. Between the dry humor and social media presence, the persona that Kiffin has grown into is as consumable as any head coach is in the country. In fact, even other head coaches, including Arkansas’ Sam Pittman, love his schtick.
Pittman shared his respect of Kiffin during his press conference on Wednesday. Ahead of the Razorback’s matchup with Ole Miss, he said Kiffin is a coach he admires simply because of the uncaring, quick-witted demeanor he has for his critics.

“I think (he’s) great,” said Pittman. “It seems to me like he really doesn’t care what people think or say. And if they do say something about him, he’ll come back. Part of me wishes I was that way a little bit more…He doesn’t (just take it) and, honestly, I admire that about him. He uses wit with it as well. I think, all in all, he’s just being him. He’s having a great time. I respect that and I respect him.”
None of this would work nearly as well if Kiffin wasn’t successful on the field. However, his recent run with the Rebels has been anything but unsuccessful as Ole Miss is 18-5 over Kiffin’s last two seasons at the helm.

All we can do is have our eyes and ears ready for Kiffin’s next gimmick because it’s not going to stop. He has become as big of a figure, regardless of school, as it gets as far as coaches go in college football and it makes him just as successful of a recruiter as it does a coach.
