One day after losing cornerbacks coach Sam Carter to Ole Miss, the Arkansas Razorbacks have found their new secondary coach. Sam Pittman is hiring Marshall assistant Dominique Bowman to coach the Hogs’ cornerbacks, according to On3’s Matt Zenitz. FootballScoop’s Zach Barnett reported the news first.

Bowman coached one season at Marshall before opting to join the Razorbacks in Fayetteville. Prior to Marshall, he was co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at UT Martin. He had previously served as assistant head coach and defensive backs coach for the Skyhawks during the 2017-18 seasons.

He spent parts of two seasons at Ohio Valley Conference rival, Austin Peay, from 2019-20. While with the Governors, he served as the program’s co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach during its championship campaign in 2019 and through the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign.

Before his first stint at UT Martin, Bowman served as the defensive backs coach at the University of Arkansas at Monticello for the 2016 season. Prior to entering the college coaching ranks, he coached at Cordova High in Memphis, Tenn.

A native of Memphis, Bowman played college football at Lambuth University under current Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze.

As the new cornerbacks coach for the Razorbacks, Dominique Bowman will work with new transfer addition Latavious Brini. Brini made 11 starts for the Georgia Bulldogs before opting to transfer.

Ole Miss pulls Sam Carter from Arkansas

Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels hired second-year cornerbacks coach Sam Carter away from Arkansas on Monday.

“Arkansas, It’s been a great two years coaching at this prestigious university. I will always be grateful for my time here,” Carter posted on Twitter. “To Mr. Yurachek, Coach Pittman and Coach Odom, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve and coach our student-athletes.”

Sam Carter joined Sam Pittman’s first staff at Arkansas after coming up through the ranks with Barry Odom at Missouri. Carter was a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award and All-Big 12 player at safety for TCU in 2014.
