Sam Pittman breaks down KJ Jefferson’s performance in return
Sam Pittman was more than happy to have his star quarterback return last weekend. After missing Arkansas’ last game, KJ Jefferson returned to the lineup in time to face off against BYU in Provo. His return was massive as he helped lead the Razorbacks to a 52-35 victory.
Pittman spoke about Jefferson’s return during his postgame press conference after defeating the Cougars. He said he was proud of Jefferson’s performance and that the team was lucky to have him back leading up to the game.

“I thought he played fantastic,” said Pittman. “His runs weren’t going very good early. But I think BYU said we’re not gonna let him run the football…I thought it was really good when you don’t play for a week. We were fortunate that he practiced all week. I was real proud of him.”
Jefferson wasn’t as dynamic in the run game as Pittman eluded to with only 10 rushes for 32 yards. However, his arm was still locked and loaded. Jefferson finished with a 72.5% completion rate for 367 yards and five touchdowns. It was yet another highlight-filled effort and, although he has coached him for a bit now, Pittman couldn’t believe at least one of the plays Jefferson made in the win.

“Really proud of KJ,” Pittman said. “The third down play before half? I have no idea how he got out of that and how he made that play. That was probably the second biggest play of the game.”
With a 3-3 record coming into Utah, Jefferson couldn’t have come back soon enough. Pittman and the Hogs need their star quarterback to ensure they finish bowl eligible over the course of their final five games. With Jefferson back in the fold, they will hit the road for their third straight week and hope to start a new win streak on Saturday at Auburn.
