Sam Pittman brings back 'Larry' after Arkansas win over Ole Miss
Fresh off a loss to LSU, the Arkansas Razorbacks got a huge win over Ole Miss this weekend. The Razorbacks jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back, resulting in a 42-27 win. The victory also resulted in Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman bringing back an old celebration.
After the win, Pittman posted a picture of a bowling ball between two Arkansas helmets. In post, Pittman stated that “Larry” is back, referring to the bowling ball. The ball stemmed back to a viral video from last November, where Pittman celebrated his team going to a bowl game with a bowling ball in the locker room.
You can see the post below. “Larry,” the bowling ball sparked quite a reaction from the Arkansas players as they called the hogs in the postgame locker room celebration last November.
“We got a new carrying case for him,” Pittman said of the ball after the win. “I think it’s an 80s vintage. Pat Doherty brought him in, in the carrying case. We kind of shined him up a little bit. By the way, we’ve had him available for a couple weeks. He looked hungry when he got out of there. He was shined up, looked good and we did bring him out.”

Arkansas’ Saturday evening win over Ole Miss snapped a two-game skid and reached bowl eligibility for the second straight time under Pittman. This season has been one full of runs for the Razorbacks, as they started 3-0, lost three straight, won two straight and then lost two straight again.

Making it to back-to-back bowl games in just Year 3 of the Pittman era is rather impressive for a program that had recently fallen on hard times. After firing Bret Bielema in 2017 with a 4-8 record, Arkansas went 6-18 over the next two seasons and quickly fired Chad Morris. The Razorbacks pulled Pittman away from Georgia and he has found success.
Pittman and the Razorbacks can finish off the 2022 season on a high note next Saturday. The Razorbacks look to finish 7-5 if they can take down Missouri on the road. Kick is slated for 2:30 p.m. CT.
