Sam Pittman compliments Rocket Sanders, offensive line for 1,000-yard milestone
Raheim ‘Rocket’ Sanders got off to a slow start on Saturday afternoon against the Auburn Tigers, but ripped off an electrifying 76-yard run in the second half, which helped him clear the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season. It only took him eight games to accomplish the feat, whereas it took former Arkansas legend Darren McFadden nine games. Sanders came into Saturday’s game leading the SEC in rushing yards and he once again showed he’s one of the nation’s best–finishing with 171 rushing yards on 16 carries in the 41-20 victory over Auburn. Following the victory, Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman discussed his star tailback clearing the 1,000-yard rushing mark and gave plenty of credit to Sanders and his offensive line.
“Isn’t that somethin’? Congratulations to him. I wish, I should’ve said something about that so I could compliment him and the offensive line in front of the whole team. That’s awesome,” Pittman said in his postgame press conference.

Rocket Sanders putting himself in rarified territory
The win for the Razorbacks was their first road victory over Auburn since the 2012 season. Sanders entered rarified air for how quickly he crossed the 1,000-yard rushing milestone. With his career-long 76-yard run against Auburn today, he tied Madre Hill’s school record for the quickest to 1,000 yards in a season in just eight games.

For the season, Sanders now has 156 carries for 1,041 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. He’s one of the nation’s most electrifying tailbacks and you simply don’t get the nickname “Rocket” without being ridiculously fast. Last season as a freshman, he had 114 rushing attempts for 578 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. As a receiver, he hauled in 11 catches for 109 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Next up, the Arkansas Razorbacks take on a scorching hot Liberty Flames (7-1 overall) team on Saturday, Nov. 5. Kick off for that one is slated for 4:00 PM EST.
