It appeared as though Arkansas stopped LSU on third down and forced the Tigers to punt. But the officials ruled Jaray Jenkins got the first down, and the call stood after a replay review.

That led to quite a reaction from Razorbacks coach Sam Pittman.

Jenkins caught a pass from Jayden Daniels and appeared to be short of the first down marker. Upon review, though, the referees declared he got the first down, giving LSU a fresh set of downs with more than two minutes left in the game. That’s when Pittman let them hear it.

It was the second consecutive drive the officials went to the replay monitor. Earlier, it appeared LSU defender Harold Perkins forced a fumble on Arkansas quarterback Cade Fortin, but ruled it an incomplete pass upon review. That meant, instead of taking the ball into the red zone, LSU was buried at its own 12-yard line.

Controversial ruling overturns key LSU fumble recovery, long return

With 4:09 left in Saturday’s game against ArkansasLSU looked like it made a huge play to put itself in position to score after Harold Perkins forced a fumble. But the officials went to replay and called it an incomplete pass, making it fourth down for the Razorbacks.

That led to a 31-yard punt to put LSU at its own 12-yard line — much more field than it would’ve had if the call stood.

Perkins got to Arkansas quarterback Cade Fortin and appeared to force a fumble, which Micah Baskerville picked up and ran back to the Razorbacks 20-yard line. The officials called it a fumble recovered by the Tigers, but upon further review, ruled Fortin’s arm was going forward. That made it an incomplete pass and wiped away the play.
