Sam Pittman on halftime lead vs. Tennessee: 'I'd rather be us than them right now'
It wasn’t necessarily pretty, but Arkansas took a 3-0 lead into halftime against Tennessee. The Volunteers’ offense stalled, and Sam Pittman summed things up in a way only he could.
During his halftime interview with ABC’s Holly Rowe, pointed out he’d “rather be us than them” on his way to the locker room. However, there are still some areas Arkansas needs to improve after the break, and Pittman noted them.
“I’d rather be us than them right now,” Pittman said. “We’ve got to convert fourth downs. Obviously, it’s disappointing, we’ve got to make our field goals. But I think we’re two out of three that we didn’t convert on fourth down. We’re playing great team football, we’re keeping the ball away from them. We’ve got to continue to run the football, we’ve been protecting really well, too. We’ve got to turn those red zone opportunities into scores.”
Taylen Green had a strong half, completing 12 of 18 passes for 146 yards. Pittman praised his decision-making, particularly when it comes to taking care of the football.
“It’s been really good,” Pittman said. “A couple of reads that we wish we had back. But I thought he’s been really good and really careful with the football.”

Arkansas’ defense also had a strong showing, holding Nico Iamaleava and the high-powered Tennessee offense to just 76 yards through two quarters. The Razorbacks continued to bring the pressure and keep the Vols off the scoreboard through two quarters as they look to join in the wave of upsets during Week 6.
The most notable shocker came in Nashville. Vanderbilt took an early lead on Alabama, and while the Crimson Tide came back at one point, the Commodores managed to hold on to pick up the biggest victory of the Clark Lea era.
Then, later in the night, two more upsets brewed. USC had the lead over Minnesota, but the Golden Gophers came back to defeat the Trojans 24-17. In Seattle, though, Washington defeated Michigan in a rematch of last year’s national championship – meaning two more Top-15 teams fell.
