Arkansas dual-threat quarterback K.J. Jefferson is one of the more dynamic players in all of college football. He proved to be clutch for the Razorbacks yet again last Saturday against the Cincinnati Bearcats, racking up over 280 all-purpose yards and scoring four total touchdowns in lifting his team to a hard-fought 31-24 victory. In his post-game press conference following the big win over the Bearcats, Razorbacks head coach Sam Pittman praised his quarterback’s ability to deliver when his team has needed him the most over the years.

“I think that’s just what he does. It seems like he’s done that. Doesn’t it, Sully? It seems like he just does it. You know they had him dead in the rights…..And he [makes sound] first down. I think it [seems] to me when the game gets a little tighter, a little closer. A little, where he’s gotta really take over the game, he has that knack to do it. He went through a stretch there where he didn’t throw the ball well. He threw some behind. He threw some low. Had a back out there probably completed it and get 15 yards. And he caught it and fell down, ya know. Because the pass wasn’t good. But it [seems] to me most every time we need him to win the game, he makes some kind of play. LSU last year, cover zero, [he] makes some kind of play and we win the game. I’m glad he’s on our team,” Pittman said.

KJ Jefferson probably doesn’t get as much attention as he should

Jefferson probably doesn’t get the amount of attention he deserves nationally in the media, but he’s a man that has peppered his name all over the record books in Fayetteville and he’s already cemented his legacy as one of the greats to ever suit up at the school. He was named the 2022 Outback Bowl MVP at the end of last season after leading the Hogs to their first bowl victory since the 2016 Liberty Bowl. The win was also the team’s first New Year’s Day bowl win since the 2000 Cotton Bowl. Last year, Jefferson completed 67.3% of his passes for 2,676 yards, while tossing in 21 touchdowns. He also rushed for a team-high 664 yards and six touchdowns on 146 carries.

Arkansas faces off against the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 12:00 PM EST.
