Sam Pittman explains what Arkansas added with new coordinators
Alabama is not the only SEC West program bringing in a new pair of coordinators. Arkansas had to replace both their OC and DC offseason, as they left in favor of other jobs. Sam Pittman decided to go with Dan Enos on the offensive end before turning to Travis Williams on defense. Both are moves the head coach is excited about.
Pittman explained what Arkansas would be getting with both coaches, beginning with Williams. He really likes how the Razorbacks’ personnel lines up with the defensive coordinator’s ideologies. Even if the Cover 0 call got dialed in a tad too much while at UCF, Pittman is all for the aggression with how the roster shapes up.
“We finally recruited to be able to play man-to-man coverage, four down line, get after people a little bit more,” Pittman said. “That’s changed. I knew we would do that when I got Travis Williams because he ran more zero blitz than I was comfortable (with).”
Sam Pittman looking for quarterback developer
One of the more experienced quarterbacks in the SEC is KJ Jefferson. He has always been a good runner for Pittman, especially behind that kind of offensive line. But heading into what could be Jefferson’s last season as a program, a quarterback developer was needed.
That’s why Pittman gave Enos a call, somebody he knows back from their time together in 2015 as assistant coaches. Now, Enos will have the opportunity to help Jefferson make strides and hopefully break open a new facet of his game.

“The other side of it, I needed a guy to develop KJ,” Pittman said. “I thought Dan Enos is as good of a quarterback coach as there is in the country. Obviously, I worked with him in ’15, set records on offense — all that kind of stuff. I knew our personnel would fit him to a T. So, I’m excited to see what he does.”
Jefferson has a high completion percentage throughout his career, currently sitting at 65.5%. The number has continually gotten better over four years as well. He has a career yard per attempt of 8.5 as well. For reference, CJ Stroud and Hendon Hooker led the country in that category last season coming in at 9.5 YPA.
Even so, Pittman is looking for a little bit more out of Jefferson. He’s hoping Enos can be the one to pull it out of him for a successful Arkansas season.
