It was about as well as a coaching staff could draw up a first half, the way Arkansas stifled the Ole Miss offense while the offense kept on running read option looks with Raheim ‘Rocket’ Sanders and KJ Jefferson until the Rebels could stop them — something they’ve yet to show a propensity for.

Speaking with SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic, Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman said that the offense was starting to get a good read on the defensive looks. They just started hammering it over and over and over.

“We can pass a little bit off it as well,” Pittman said of the zone read look, “but our kids kind of figured them out there towards the second quarter and blocking them up pretty good right now.”

At the half, Sanders had 17 carries for 153 yards and two touchdowns.

Another pleasing development for Pittman is Arkansas put the ball in the end zone shortly after a Drew Sanders interception. It was something the Razorbacks struggled to do a week ago in a loss to LSU.

“Yeah, really good player man,” Pittman said of Sanders. “Great pick and then our offense — that’s what we didn’t do last week. We didn’t score on turnovers. We’ve done it today.”

Pittman was pleased to be bowl eligible after the win

After an impressive dominating victory at home over the Ole Miss Rebels in their senior game, the Arkansas Razorbacks and head coach Sam Pittman are now bowl-eligible. After the game, Pittman expressed how big of a deal this win was to him and the players in his program.

“A big deal, you know. We’ve been here for three years. That’s a top-15 team in the country we’re able to beat,” said Pittman. “That’s our sixth win over a top-25 team since we’ve been here. The kids are bowl eligible three years in a row—our program is on the up and up. We play in a hell of a division. And that’s what it is. You gotta be ready each and every week. But we’ve got a good football team, and I think you saw that tonight. We got a big game against Missouri, but we’ll celebrate tonight.”
