Trey Knox and Latavious Brini will be game-time decisions for Saturday’s game against Missouri State, Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman revealed Monday.

Knox, a senior tight end for the Razorbacks, came out of Saturday’s 44-20 win over South Carolina on Saturday toward the end of the third quarter and didn’t return. Pittman said after the game that Knox was dealing with an ankle issue heading into Saturday’s game, and is taking his recovery day-by-day with over a week before the SEC schedule kicks into full gear.

“I think we’ve got to watch him,” Pittman said of Knox. “I think he’ll be fine this weekend. I think we really have to watch him. How we do it, if there’s potential for him to practice that day – in other words – if [Arkansas athletic trainer Dave Polanski] hadn’t said he’s out, we take him, and we let the coaches kind of see where they’re at physically. That is also encouraging them to practice.

“They’re already suited out, they’re already out there, but it’s also a good way to find out where they really are injury-wise, so we’re gonna do that with him today.”

Brini on the other hand, a transfer from Georgia, made his first start in a Hogs uniform in place for the already injured Jalen Catalon. Brini started 11 of 13 games for the Bulldogs last season, and ended his first Arkansas first start with four tackles, a QB hurry and a key forced fumble at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

“[Brini] was another one too had an ankle that we’re kind of doing the same thing,” Pittman said. “I think Brini’s probably a little more healthier than Trey.”

Both Knox and Brini will hope to be able to suit up this Saturday when Missouri State comes to Fayetteville. Though, a week off in preparation for No. 24 Texas A&M (and No. 2 Alabama after that) might not be the worst idea for either on their path to recovery.
