It’s not all the time that a receiver from a lower level of football can move up and instantly make an impact, but Arkansas might have just such a guy thanks to the talent of Andrew Armstrong.

Armstrong transferred to Arkansas this offseason from Texas A&M Commerce.

“Yeah, isn’t he smooth? He’s a big, smooth guy,” coach Sam Pittman said. “And he’s ran 22 (miles per hour) on the Catapult. I mean the guy can run, he’s big, good-looking receiver. Got really good hands.”

Not only does Armstrong good hands, he’s got incredible size to boot. He checks in listed at 6 foot 6, 189 pounds.

He had a monster season at Texas A&M Commerce last fall, catching 62 passes for 1,020 yards and 13 touchdowns. In his career he has logged 77 catches for 1,317 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Needless to say the talent of Andrew Armstrong makes him one of a handful of additions for Arkansas this season that have the Razorbacks quite excited.

Arkansas took plenty at the receiver position, where it had some serious production to replace off last year’s team. Now it’s just about getting the new transfers up to speed.

Armstrong isn’t quite there just yet.

“I think, to be honest with you, I think he’s playing a little bit faster in those one-on-ones than what he is in team right now because I think he’s still spinning a little bit with formations and his responsibility,” Pittman said. “But you’ve seen it and I have too that he’s very, very talented.”

Along with Armstrong at the receiver position, Arkansas also took in Bowling Green receiver transfer Tyrone Broden, Hillsdale College receiver transfer Isaac TeSlaa and Memphis receiver transfer Marlon Crockett.

Broden recorded 32 catches for 506 yards and seven touchdowns last fall, while TeSlaa hauled in 68 passes for 1,325 yards and 13 touchdowns. Crockett appeared in just one game as a redshirt freshman, failing to record any statistics in 2022.
